Part of the ALPHA suite
ALPHA DeepResearcher · Investigate
Research that shows its working.
Ask a hard question and receive a cited, source-grounded brief: findings tied to their origins, the search path preserved, uncertainty marked in plain language — so you can verify before you act.
Method
Plan, gather, synthesize, cite.
One visible pipeline from question to brief. Each stage is inspectable, so you can challenge the work instead of taking it on trust.
-
01 · Plan
Scope the question first
The investigation opens with a written plan: the question restated, what would count as evidence, which viewpoints to compare, and what is explicitly out of scope. You can narrow or redirect the plan before gathering begins.
-
02 · Gather
Collect sources with provenance
Material is gathered from stated origins, each item kept with its source, retrieval context, and date. The search path is preserved — which sources were consulted, which were set aside, and why.
-
03 · Synthesize
Compare, weigh, and organize
Findings are compared across viewpoints, agreements and disagreements are laid out side by side, and open questions are separated from settled ones. The brief stays inside your bounded workspace.
-
04 · Cite
Tie every claim to its origin
Each substantive claim links back to the source it rests on. Where evidence is thin or conflicting, the brief says so directly instead of smoothing over the gap.
The brief
What a finished brief contains.
A reading-ready document you can verify, challenge, and reuse — not a bare answer.
- Question restated with scope and exclusions
- Findings linked to their sources, origin by origin
- Viewpoints compared, including where they disagree
- Uncertainty and gaps marked in plain language
- Search path preserved for audit and extension
Reuse
Briefs stay working documents.
Notes and briefs live in your workspace alongside Studio builds and automation runs. Extend an investigation later, hand it to an agent for scoped follow-through, or re-run the plan when the question changes.
Honesty
What DeepResearcher will not do.
Attribution is a control, not a courtesy. These are standing refusals that shape every brief:
- Never invents citationsEvery cited source was actually consulted and is traceable. If a claim cannot be sourced, it is marked as unsourced reasoning — never dressed as a citation.
- Shows sources, not just conclusionsFindings arrive with the material behind them, so a person can verify before acting on them.
- Marks uncertainty openlyThin evidence, conflicting accounts, and open questions are labeled as such. Confidence is stated where it matters and withheld where it does not hold.
- No silent scope expansionThe investigation stays inside its declared plan. New directions require your go-ahead, not the system's initiative.
- StudioResearch in the same bounded workspaces as ALPHA Studio, live now.
- ComputersInvestigations run on isolated machines from ALPHA Computers, with provenance kept.
- Runs + AgentsFeed briefs into ALPHA Automations or assign follow-through to ALPHA Agents — sources intact.
Control commitments
Traceable by construction.
DeepResearcher is the suite's answer to unattributed findings. Read the philosophy for the refusal that governs it.
-
01
Human in command
You scope the question, redirect the plan, and decide what the brief is used for. Nothing is sent or published without approval.
-
02
Contained by design
Research runs inside bounded workspaces with least-privilege access. Briefs stay inside your workspace until you choose otherwise.
-
03
Auditable always
Plan, search path, sources, and revisions are recorded as they happen, so any finding can be traced back to its origins.
