Philosophy
Capability without control is a liability.
Our thesis is simple: machine intelligence should extend human judgment, never replace human responsibility. So we build the controls first and earn autonomy step by step.
The control-first thesis
Most systems add safety after the fact — a review screen bolted onto an agent that already acts freely. We invert that order. Every ALPHA product starts from a bounded workspace, a permission model, and an audit trail. Capability is then granted deliberately, within limits a person can understand and revoke.
This is why ALPHA Studio, ALPHA Automations, ALPHA Computers, ALPHA DeepResearcher, ALPHA Agents, and ALPHA Bit-Bots share one identity, one workspace model, and one control plane. Restraint is not a setting. It is the architecture.
Human in command
A person defines the goal, grants the permissions, and approves consequential steps. The system may propose, draft, gather, and organize — but it does not send, publish, delete, share, or spend on your behalf without your explicit approval.
Approval is designed to be meaningful: what is being asked, in which workspace, with what scope, and how to undo it. If an approval cannot be understood in seconds, the design has failed.
Containment as a design commitment
We describe these as commitments that shape every product, not as finished specifications:
- Single-active workspacesWork happens in one bounded workspace at a time, so attention and responsibility are never split across hidden contexts.
- Permission jailsEach workspace receives the minimum access it needs — files, network, tools, credentials — and nothing more. Anything outside the grant requires a new, explicit approval.
- Audit trailsActions, approvals, and changes are recorded as they occur, in language a person can read, so any outcome can be reconstructed and reviewed.
What we refuse to build
Some patterns are incompatible with controlled AGI. We will not ship them, even when asked:
- Autonomous unlogged agentsAgents that act without visible scope, approval points, or a readable record of what they did.
- Fake streamingInterfaces that simulate live reasoning or progress to feel fast while hiding what is actually happening.
- Dark patternsConsent flows, permission prompts, or cancellations designed to confuse, rush, or trap the person in command.
- Silent scope expansionFeatures that quietly widen file, network, or credential access beyond what was originally granted.
- Unattributed researchFindings presented without traceable sources, so a person cannot verify before acting on them.
